As I've said before, Blackmagic is continually doing bug fixes, adding new features, adding new camera support. But, if by the time you're watching this, there are newer versions of Resolve 12, please absolutely upgrade to the most current version. You'll see me upgrade to the most recent version at the time of this recording.
You're going to learn how you can upgrade early releases safely. Really, this movie is aimed at those of you who already have an earlier version installed on your system like Resolve 10 or 11. I was very interested to learn about how Blackmagic viewed their competition (or lack there of), and where the source of their innovation has been coming from as far as their new cameras are concerned. Rather than going through all of the technical specs on the camera (which are readily available online, and I will also address in further posts), the purpose of this interview was to really to touch on the philosophy behind Blackmagic’s products – particularly their camera lineup, as well as DaVinci Resolve 11. As you might imagine, there was quite a lot of ground to cover during the interview, but thankfully we were able to have a fairly extensive, 20 minute conversation about all things Blackmagic, which I decided not to cut up at all since there was a lot of valuable information shared throughout the course of the interview. I just got back from NAB, and while I wish I could have stayed the rest of the week, I am happy to say I packed a lot into my time at the show – including an interview with Dan May, the President of Blackmagic Design.Īs most of you already know, Blackmagic just released two new cameras (the URSA and their new Studio Camera), and they announced a new version of DaVinci Resolve (11) which is going to now also function as a full fledged editing system.
